Help · False positives
Coming soon.
A finding can be structurally correct and not apply to your content — a decorative image flagged for missing alt when the image is purely ornamental, or a heading-level skip that's a deliberate outline choice in a long document. This article will cover when to file a finding as a false positive and when to silence the underlying SC at the profile level instead.
What this article will cover
Two distinct decisions.
File as a false positive
The scanner emits a finding at one location, on one issue or page, that doesn't apply. You keep the SC active for the rest of the workspace and mark this single occurrence as known-and-ignored.
Silence the SC
The SC doesn't fit how this workspace writes — every page would emit a finding you intend to ignore. You turn the SC off in the scan profile and no finding of that id emits anywhere in the workspace.
In the meantime
Read the shape of a finding first.
Before deciding whether to file or silence, learn what each of the four pieces of a finding — SC ID, severity label, ADF location path, and remediation hint — means. See /help/interpret-findings.
For the per-SC rules the scanner walks, see /help/configure-scan-profile.
